Renovation of Sreekovil and Chuttampalam
As you know, the existing temple comprising of Sreekovil and Chuttampalam has stood the onslaught of several decades that have passed since its construction. The damaging marks inflicted by these years cannot be overlooked. The need for proper renovation is being felt by the devotees within and without. With this purpose in mind an ashtamangalya deva prashanam was conducted in January 2009. In accordance with the finding of the Deva prashnam, it was decided to demolish the existing copper-roofed Sreekovil , Gabhagrih and reconstruct them totally.. The existing Nalampalam is to be renovated with slight expansion and copper sheet roofing. The existing idol is to be clad in panchaloha golaka.
A committee for renovation has been constituted comprising of members of Dhanwanthari Kshethram trust committee and members nominated from the general public. The committee has already started functioning. A balalayam was constructed, the Dhanwanthari idol was transfered to it and installed there on 09-07-2009 by the temple thanthri chief, Brahma Sri Kadiyakkot Krishnan Namboothiri. The renovation work of Sreekovil is proposed to be completed within one year.
The newly constructed Sreekovil and Chuttampalam will be strictly in accordance with temple Vasthu Stipulation. Sree Kanippayyoor Namboothiripad has prepared the design. The foundation basement and walls will all be made of granite with sculptures. The wood work for the roof will be in Teak. Fresh copper sheets are used to be for roofing. Measurements for making Panchaloha golaka have been taken. This ambitions and prestigions is, no doubt, an expensive one. It is estimated than an exorbitant sum of Rupees 2 crores is required to complete the renovation work. The work has already started on a war footing. It can be completed with the whole hearted and generous cooperations and contributionsof the devotees of Sree Dhanwanthari. The renovation committee appeals to the generous and ardent devotees and to partake in this noble venture. A special account has been started in the cherthala south branch of SBI for the purpose. Temple going and generous public are appealed to extend their co operation in this noble cause by donating money and materials.
